Only 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable x2xx Processors support memory modules built with 16Gb DRAM. Motherboard supports two CPU's and 24 DIMM sockets, configured as 12 DIMM's per CPU (2 banks of 6). Optional SR850 Processor and Memory Expansion Tray supports an additional two CPU's and 24 DIMM sockets, also configured as 12 DIMM's per CPU (2 banks of 6). Faster memory will clock down to run at optimal speeds depending on processor model installed. Mixing Registered and Load Reduced modules CANNOT be mixed within the same system.
