All Crucial SSD drives ship with free cloning software. It is a Crucial branded version of Acronis
These instructions are for Crucial SSD only. If you have an Upgradeable SSD then you need to use Macrium instructions. Acronis only works when a Crucial drive is installed or connected to the computer.
1. Attach SSD to PC with cloning cable. You do not need to format the drive, Acronis software will do this when it starts the clone.
2. Download and install Acronis. Use your browser to go to crucial.com/clone
3. Open program. Click clone wizard or "Clone Disk" found on the Tools page. Clone mode is Automatic. Select the source (your old drive)
4. Choose SSD as destination. Choose the new SSD, as you plugged it in at the start, it should be available to be selected. Select the SSD. Double check the settings before proceeding.
5. From summary click proceed. Your computer will lock while the cloning takes place. It will take a while to clone, please be patient. Note: You will get prompted to buy the full version of Acronis. This is not necessary to do a successful clone. You can ignore or remove the offer.
6. You're done. Just install the new SSD. Once the cloning has finished, the computer will shut down or manually shut it down.
Please consult your computer's user manual on how to replace the old hard drive with your newly cloned SSD. We recommend customers keep the old hard drive in a safe place for a few weeks to make sure everything is ok with the newly cloned SSD. The hard drive can be reused, Upgradeable sells cases that can turn the old hard drive into an external hard drive for extra storage or as a backup device.

Troubleshooting
If the Acronis fails or the clone does not boot here are a list of solutions:
1. Check there are no USB or micro card attached. You can have mouse and keyboard and the SSD attached to the computer via USB but no other peripherals.
2. Disable any anti virus software and or anti malware software. Windows Defender is not a problem.
3. Check if the drive is encrypted (do you have a password before windows boot up? Is Bitlocker turned on?
4. Acronis recommends creating a bootable USB to do the clone. The idea is it takes Windows out of the clone. We have had customers successfully clone this way.
4. We recommend changing cloning software than spending too much time troubleshooting Acronis. If Acronis is not cloning we recommend using Macrium Reflect Home. It is a 30 day free trial. If you are a business customer, you will appreciate the extra features in the Macrium Workstation. Macrium is a bit harder to use, if you get stuck with all the options, please call our office. Macrium will show all the hidden partitions. All the partitions are essential for Windows to work.
If you are having trouble with Macrium, download and install Teamviewer. With this software installed, call our office and one of our support people can share your screen and do the cloning via remote access.
